DEMEDARTS builds on the previous project PEEK Project FWAR 00366 DAS Artistic Research on Patterns of Perception and Action in the Context of an Aging Society (2015-2019) on https://www.dementiaartssociety.com/. “Dementia. Arts. Society. " researched and presented various potentials of how art and design have a positive effect on people with and without dementia.

WORKSHOPSIN SCHOOLS
As part of workshops that the DEMEDARTS team, consisting of artists, designers and musicians, have developed, questions about dementia are collected together with students in the secondary school and their own level of knowledge is checked. Afterwards, workshops are designed that deal artistically with one's own feelings, cognitive abilities and memories in the context of dementia.
We work with haptic objects, performance, movement, language and sound.
The students not only strengthen their empathy and understanding of dementia, but also acquire analog and digital skills.

WITH DEMENTIA
These workshops take place in association with secondary school students, people with dementia - House of Mercy and Alzheimer Austria - carers and relatives.
CITY WALKS
Art researchers, prospective art and music teachers, schoolchildren, people with dementia and relatives wander through their favorite places in their residential area in Vienna together. The project, adapted from Schöner's 'Favorite Places' (Buschkühle 2003: 13-18), intends a mindful, empathetic approach to people with dementia. This is about empathic perception of feelings in relation to people, voices and noises in known and no longer known rooms as well as in the neighborhood.
